🔵 Framework: The AAARRR aka Pirate Funnel

It's a popular 6-stage framework the best startups use to grow fast & sustainably. But it applies to Creator business equally well:

1) Awareness stage

You were not aware of your top 3 creators a few months ago. But they were still posting consistently back then. [likely scenario]

If your content & products are great, It is your RESPONSIBILITY to get the word out.

Acid test: Likes Social Media Content.

2) Acquisition stage

100 people might like your post. 40 might be "repeat likers". 10 of those are followers. 4 of the remaining 30 hit follow.

Congrats! You have "acquired" them. They are likely to see you again. Or maybe buy!

Acid test: Becomes a Follower / Subscriber.

3) Activation stage

It is one thing to click a follow button. It's another thing to give out your personal email & permission to show up in your inbox every week.

What if you don't have an email list? Build it [like I am]

Acid test: Email subscriber, Grabs all Freebies.

4) Retention stage

Some of the followers are heavy engagers. Not because the have more time. "It's because they like my content." Actually, still no. That's stage 2

They have started to like YOU Doesn't matter if they don't buy.

Acid test: Regularly Engages, Becomes a Fan.

5) Revenue stage

$$ Time! A tripwire is " an irresistible, low-priced offer that aims to Upsell a potential customer"

If they buy from you once, they will buy from you again. Except in cases where they really can't afford it.

Acid test: Buys a Tripwire, Paying Customer.

6) Referral stage

If you have to convince a NEW person to buy from you every time, it's gonna hurt. You need repeat customers or you need them to spread your word.

In a creator business, this is a uniquely important metric.

Acid test: Buys again, Refers to friends & Fans

You might be asking...how do I use it?

Those were the 6 stages of the AAARRR (pirate) funnel. To use it:

Identify the "weakest link" in your funnel. The "benchmarks" for conversions from Stage X to Stage Y may vary. But you can tell the WEAKEST stage

Work on it and solve that "bottleneck". Repeat!

🔵 Story: Secrets of Smiles

I want to make "smile more" part of my brand like "walk more" or "drink more water" would be. This philosophy encapsulates something close to my heart.

In 2018, when I was prepping for job interviews in the final year of college, things got super hard for me. There were a variety of reasons but the end result was that over the 2 weeks, I stayed home during the semesters, my mental health was a mess.

My Dad asked me one day - " I haven't seen you smile ONCE in so many days. I have the full context of your life but it still doesn't make sense to me".

It hit me.

It was true. Over time, I had slowly but surely made things harder than they needed to be.

By expecting perfection from myself. By allowing myself to worry about stuff I can't control. By not taking support when I needed it. By trying to run away from reality...and myself.

Smiling forces you to (1) "take action" (ie smile) even in face of uncertainty & daunting challenges + (2) trick the body to calm down a bit & the mind to feel grateful.

These 2 character traits are non-negotiable for any Creator imo. Acting when you haven't figured it all out & tricking your body + mind to serve you instead of vice versa.

Consciously smiling more is a simple, free exercise anyone can do that "trains the muscles" for these 2 traits. And does so SUPER effectively!

🔵 Twitter Hack: Blue tick even for non US citizens

This past week I got a blue tick (yay!). But I live in India & Twitter has only enabled it for US....

Blue subscribers have distinct advantages in the Twitter algo : more impressions recommended more), authority (psychological) & reach (comment floats to the top).

It has other cool features too but I rest my case: non US citizens are losing out big time and it will continue to be so for a few more months.

But not for you!

Here's how to do it for free (no legal issues):

1/ Install Proton VPN (free plan)

2/ Connect to a US server from the drop down. (Your account should now show a "Twitter Blue" option)

3/ Follow this walkthrough. Make sure to give a US address in the address field.

4/ Once your payment goes through, you will receive a confirmation mail.

All features except tick get activated immediately. Wait for a couple of days..and voila! You will have that lovely tick next to your name :)

🔵 Resource: AI tools directory

FutureTools does an amazing job at making AI tools accessible in a quick & efficient way. No more google searches or sorting through bookmarks. Phew!I came across it via the creator Matt who is doing an awesome job as a Creator. His newsletter (by the same name) is also highly recommended for AI geeks!

🔵 Idea: Just Start!

You are late to the Creator economy just as Microsoft was late to the Internet economy in 1995 - you are fucking not!

I wasted 4 years not building a Twitter brand despite KNOWING I would one day for sure. And I regret it every day.
